Policy Dialogue. Advanced Rural Development Initiative (ARDI) program

On June 30 The Fuller Center for Housing Armenia and Heifer Armenia organized a round table discussion on “Agriculture and Rural Economic Development in Armenia” in the framework of the Advanced Rural Development Initiative (ARDI) Program funded by USAID. The round table was held under the guidance of Mr. Karen Martirosyan, PhD in Economics, Cofounder and Head of Strategic Management Advisory Services of Avenue Consulting Group.

 

The RA policy and strategy on agriculture and rural development was  discussed during the round table.  This Policy dialogue was held with participation of Representatives of USAID, the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Territorial Administration, and Ministry of Nature Protection, the heads of rural communities engaged in the ARDI program as well as members of rural cooperatives.

 

Dr. Karen Martirosyan made a keynote presentation on “Agriculture and Rural Economic Development in Armenia: Policy and Strategy Highlights”. After the presentation the participants had a vivid discussion on the salient issues farmers and the rural communities face in Armenia. Various agriculture policy related questions were addressed to RA Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mr. Armen Harutyunyan who responded in depth to the questions of participants and provided additional information on the approach and the strategy of the RA Ministry of Agriculture.
